Question 1

What order do I post them in?

Accepted Answer

Instagram always puts the newest post top-left, so start with the highest number (9→1 for a 3×3). By the time you've posted them all, piece 1 sits top-left and the picture reads correctly.

Question 2

What's the difference between 3×3 and 3×1?

Accepted Answer

3×3 takes a square photo into nine pieces and fills three rows of your profile — a feature image. 3×1 takes a wide photo into three pieces that sit side by side in one row — a banner.

Question 3

What if my photo isn't the right shape?

Accepted Answer

It's cropped from the centre to fill the target shape (1:1 for 3×3, 3:1 for 3×1), then divided evenly. What you see in the preview is exactly what gets saved.

Question 4

Can I put white lines between the pieces?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Raise the spacing slider and each piece gets a margin along its inner edges in whatever colour you choose, which reads as grid lines once they're side by side on Instagram.

Question 5

Can I slice several photos different ways?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Switch photos, set the grid type and quality, and press Run — each run adds to the list.

Question 6

Are my files uploaded to a server?

Accepted Answer

No. Everything runs inside your browser and nothing is sent to a server — unless you press Save yourself, which keeps it in your account.
