Question 1

How much bigger does it get?

Accepted Answer

Width and height are each multiplied by 4, so a 500×400 photo becomes 2000×1600. It isn't a plain stretch — the AI redraws edges and textures, so it doesn't go soft the way a normal enlargement does.

Question 2

Why the 4 megapixel limit?

Accepted Answer

Both sides grow 4x, which is 16x the area. Even a 4 megapixel photo comes back at 64 megapixels, so the file gets enormous. Large photos are usually sharp enough already, so there's less to gain anyway.

Question 3

Does it work on old photos and scans?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Photographed film prints, old low-resolution pictures and screen captures all respond well. It can't invent what was never there, though — a face that's completely smeared won't come back exactly.

Question 4

Does text get sharper too?

Accepted Answer

Signs and printed text inside a photo usually do get crisper. This tool is built for photos, though — if your goal is to read a document, [Image OCR] pulls the words out as text far more reliably.

Question 5

What format do I get back?

Accepted Answer

PNG by default, and you can switch to JPG or WebP. Since the area grows 16x the file gets heavy — if that's a problem, run it through [Image Compress · Resize · Convert] afterwards.
